residents rattled. police need help solving this crime. the loud party that was held at this house on north 29th street was unusual for the neighborhood. >> extremely quiet neighborhood, really family oriented, really, really quiet. >> reporter: what was more unusual is what broke the silence here in the early morning hours. >> just prior to 3:30 a.m. officers in the area heard sounds of shots. >> reporter: police responded to a noise complaint at the party and went back for something much more serious. >> found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. >> reporter: the victim was not a resident of the home as late morning turns into afternoon, they collected more evidence, more than two dozen markers show the breath of leads, cigarette

friends standing by. >> as a result of a dispute at the house party, no larger threat to the community. >> reporter: still worrisome for those who call this neighborhood home. >> just really out of character for the neighborhood. >> reporter: in north arlington, news 4. meanwhile, the police arrested a woman for murder after finding the victim unconscious in a closet. it made the discovery friday at a home on 21st street on northeast. 63-year-old walter clark was in the close et. he had been beaten and later died at the hospital. 76-year-old thomas dean bennett is charged with first degree murder according to the police report. bennett told officers she hit clark with a bat. meanwhile, it's a working holiday weekend for president trump. he's spending today interviewing candidates to be the new national security adviser. mr. trump met with his health and budget chief, and a

we are recognizing a police officer in montgomery county tonight for bravery. news 4 introduces us to the man who help save two families from a growing fire. >> reporter: the flames broke out at this home on persimmon ridge road in clarksburg at 2:30 in the morning. montgomery county police officer john warp was the first one here. the family, where the fire started, was already out. he alerted the residents of the homes on either side. they escaped safely. >> disbelief. you know, here's a police officer knocking at the door at 2:30 in the morning saying your neighbor's house is in fire, you're in danger, get

a lot of disbelief, especially across the street when they saw what was going on. >> reporter: this resident says she, her husband, and brother were asleep when the officer knocked. you can see the heat melted the siding of neighbors' homes and credits the officer with potentially saving lives. >> i said thank you. great job. much appreciated. i think these guys saved lives, especially the house next door. >> reporter: a montgomery county fire spokesman says the fire was caused by improperly burning materials on the deck or porch. the family just moved in a few weeks ago. neighbors are already collecting money and other donations to help them. they have two school-aged children. >> we're just trying to help them with clothing and toys for the kids. one of the sad things was there was a little girl's birthday a few weeks ago, so she was sad she lost all her biry
